I have been living and exploring in Phoenix since 1999, yet still have never managed to check this iconic area off my list. Located in North Scottsdale (nearly Rio Verde) there lies the McDowell Mountain Range. A few years back I found myself on a night hike through the McDowell Regional Park. I remember this one because it was one of the first times I had used my camera. Prior to this exploration in creativity, I had entered the park from the South and did the iconic hike to Bells Pass.
