Midday Friday we loaded up the kayaks and headed out towards Apache Lake for a brief overnighter. The 88 ended up being shut down for a med evacuation so we hit Saguaro instead. The whole trip only lasted 16 hours but we manged to see two bald eagles and have some entertainment from all the yahoos on motor boats.
Four of us put together our funds and rented a houseboat for four days on Lake Powell. We loaded up with kayaks and hiking gear and hit the open water. Between the mixed weather, boat malfunctions and slot canyons we had one hell of a trip.
Bluff Springs Loop Via Dutchman is a route from the Peralta Trailhead in the Superstitions that never disappoints. We were there a little early for wildflowers, but the expansive views are always in season. With the recent rains the desert was green and flowing, which is always a nice treat. The loop is just shy of 10 miles and has 1,700' AEG. The linked description includes extra mileage which is worth doing if time allows, but our particular route is here.
