Our trip was beginning to wind down as we made our way over to Seward, AK. The small town is a hub for tourist due to the cruise ships docking there. Out of all the places we had been, this area packed the most hiking trails in. Filling a few days here, was no problem.
Denali, the mountain that never showed it's top. After Fairbanks we popped into Denali for a few nights. We stayed at the Denali Hostel, in our own room. The accommodations were nice and we would definitely recommend staying there. Denali was our last hope of seeing some bears. Up to this point we had struck out, in fact we hardly saw any evidence of them. Lucky for us we got our wish granted.
We finished up our journey in McCarthy and hit the road. After a day of driving we made it to Fairbanks, AK. The weather was cloudy in the evenings, which didn't bode well for us trying to see the northern lights. Adding insult to injury, our host described the most amazing light show that had happened the evening before. Luckily seeing the lights weren't our only plans.
