Since starting a new job, Sara and I have conflicting days off. Not ideal for getting outdoors. With some altering of her schedule we were able to find a day to head North and get in a hike. I left the ball in her court and she chose a whopper. A 20 mile loop, with an off trail section and 5000 AEG. We got up early, got to the trailhead, and then, shit. I had not confirmed the GPS track had been transferred. Not a issue normally, because we always have maps. But this hike was a combination of scarcely used trails and bushwhacking. Plus we hardly allocated enough time to finish the 20 mile loop before dark. So once again we were forced into plan B. We decided to do an out and back on the Highline Trail. Sort of boring, (especially since we would be back here in just a few weeks) but it actually turned out to be a nice hike. We would have preferred a little more tree cover, but the lack of big trees allowed for great views. This day hike also allowed us to get some time on the Highline trail. With our current track record of plans not working out, we are becoming increasingly skilled at last minute plan development. Heres to going with the flow!
