On the far Southern side of the Estrellas lies Quartz Peak Trail. Spending an equal portion of time behind the wheel as on the trail will reward you with bagging this peak. The trail to the summit is quite steep, but the trail is easy to navigate and the surrounding scenery makes it worth the trip. The day we went we left Phoenix under dark clouds and potential for rain. Along the way we were questioning the odds of us completing the hike as the rain cascaded across the hood of the Forester. Lucky for us as we arrived at the trailhead and the skies cleared. With the exception of wind the weather was perfect.

Notes: The road closures are easily bypassed and when we went the road conditions allowed for a Forrester to get us to the trailhead.
